Biography
Marlow H. Colvin
has served in the Illinois House since 2001. A bright, energetic community
leader, he was raised and educated in the Chatham-Avalon Park community.
His roots run deep in the community. He is a graduate of St. Felicitas
Elementary School, St. Willibrord Catholic High School and Chicago State
University where he earned a degree in political science.
Hard work and determination are ingredients that have added to Rep. Colvin's
success in public service. As a young man, he was taught the real meaning
of public service by one of Chicago's most astute political leaders ---
John H. Stroger, Jr. He has been an active member of the 8th Ward Regular
Democratic Organization for 22 years, past president of the 8th Ward Young
Democrats, and is a past Chairman of the Young Democrats of Cook County.
He also served as a board member of the Young Democrats of Illinois and
America. Colvin formerly served as Legislative Chairman for the
Illinois House Black Caucus.
Representative Colvin's career in public service extends to other endeavors
such as coaching little league baseball and youth basketball, being an active member of the Southeast Chicago chapter of the Kiwanis Club, a Jackson Park Hospital Foundation Board member and a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Prior to serving as State Representative, Marlow served as an administrator
in the Office of the Cook County Assessor. As Manager of External Review,
he was responsible for managing all projects related to research, development
and training initiatives for the Industrial - Commercial Valuations divisions
of the office.
A young man with a vision for the people of the 33rd District, Rep. Colvin
is working to unite the community by forging strong relationships with
local government leaders and civic organizations.
